SLMM to build elevator

Salt Lake Monthly Meeting is conducting a special fund-raiser to re-pay the loan for an elevator in our building. Currently, access to both the bathrooms and the kitchen are only by the stairs. We have members of the Meeting who have difficulty using the stairs, and some individuals can’t attend at all. In addition, the building is used by the public and another congregation. Therefore, we wish to become compliant with the modern recommendations of the Access for Disabilities Act and update our building.

The architect has inspected the building and recommended a Vertical Platform lift for the southeast corner of the Meeting room next to the stairs (://www.savaria.com/home). All other options were not feasible due to the need to dig out foundations.

The platform lift will be about waist high (about the height of the short wall next to the stairs) and will not obstruct the view to the windows. It will accommodate one wheelchair only and will open up into the dining area downstairs.

Our final cost estimate is about $60,000. We have received a generous bequest from a Friend’s estate of about $4,400 that is jumpstarting our campaign. The work is being inspected December 2023.  We hope to begin using the elevator soon – but we still owe for its construction. We have started a GoFundMe link

Please consider supporting this necessary and worthy cause.  All monies received will be earmarked.  In addition to using the PayPal button above, the donations can be mailed by check to:
